The Dutch Digi Helicon Info Day will take place on Friday October 31st. At his day we will present and inform delegates from our Dutch network and empower current & aspiring artists through the development of digital skills & competences.

The DIGI HELICON partnership has developed an inclusive virtual space to host artistic works from different fields. DIGI HELICON is a European project approved by the DE02 – Nationale Agentur Bildung für Europa beim Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (DE) in partnership with 8 partners, from 6 European countries (Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Cyprus and Greece) focused on “empowering current and aspiring artists through the development of digital skills and competences”.

The purpose of the project is: to empower current and aspiring artists, with a focus on those from vulnerable groups, and women artists, through the development of their digital skills and competences. To achieve this, the project aims at:

• developing innovative materials for artists and adult educators,
• providing flexible, upskilling opportunities,
• promoting artists’ entrepreneurship and employability, and
• fostering intercultural dialogue and social inclusion.

The DIGI HELICON project will offer a transferable Capacity Building Methodology, a stand alone online course, 6 workshops using blended, participatory learning and a mentoring scheme together with the provision of a virtual space for promoting artists’ work. The first /dutch workshop will take place on April 25th. The 2nd workshop will be scheduled soon!

The project is funded by the European Commission under the call for proposals KA220-ADU – Cooperation partnerships in adult education and lasts from 1/11/22 to 31/10/25.

On April 10th 2025 the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work hosted the last ELDeM You transnational project meeting in Leiden. The partnership dealt with the last changes of the online tool and the coordination of the multiplier events.

Dutch Multiplier event

The Dutch multiplier event will be given on Thursday May 1st in Rotterdam at Post West.

Eight organizations from six European countries (Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Cyprus, and Greece) have partnered to help artists across Europe build digital skills and competencies, while also offering opportunities to showcase their art. Participation in this project includes free access to an online course on improving digital skills, participation in a mentoring scheme, and the chance to exhibit artwork in a virtual exhibition.

The project ELDeM YOU is launching the testing phase. On January 13th 2025 we have presented the Digital Tool to our Dutch youth workers. The idea is that the participating youth workers participate in the evaluation of the ELDeM YOU online tool! The insights as a youth worker are critical for us to understand how well this Life Design resource supports both the teaching experience and the learning journey of young participants.

The feedback of the youth workers will guide us in refining the tool for future use. Ofcourse we will also test the tool with our young people. This will be done in the period January 13th – January 31st. ELDeM YOU is specifically designed for young people who are making their career choices and planning their next steps in life. SHIELD seeks to address gender-based violence (GBV), in particular stalking, sexual harassment, dating violence and online grooming among youth through innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) based solutions, enhancing detection and intervention strategies. By empowering youth workers with digital tools and resources, the project aims to foster safer environments, improve GBV awareness, and influence policy at national and European levels for sustainable change.

Picking a Logo at the Kick Off in Palermo

The kick off meeting in Palermo on December 3rd 2024 was focused on the set up, interim reports, deliverables and milestones during the 3-year project duration. One of the important decisions to make is the project logo. The Dutch Foundation is responsible for communication and dissemination work packages, including the design of the Shield logo… The shield is a universal symbol of protection, strength and security, attributes directly related to the mission of our project: to combat harassment and violence against women through the use of artificial intelligence tools. The shape of the shield visually conveys the idea of safeguarding and empowering, being a clear reference of trust and defense.The choice of colours plays a fundamental role in conveying the values and mission of the project. The purple and grey colour palette is much more than an aesthetic choice – it is a reflection of the project’s values and purposes. Purple represents the fight against gender based violence, while grey symbolises the technology that allows us to advance in this matter. Together, these colours create a powerful visual identity that communicates both emotional commitment and technological innovation.

The partnership has chosen logo nr. 1 as the best logo visualizing the brand and indentity of the Shield-project.

The aim of the EDDI Catalogue is to support and compliment the EDDI e-platform and application. The EDDI catalogue (which you can find on the EDDi app) is giving lots of good examples. The Dutch good practise we have put forward is probably welll known: It’s about the Superschool, de Hugo de Groot school in Rotterdam: From the worst school in the Netherlands to one of the best schools in the Netherlands in five years.

Superschool

In 2009 Eric van ’t Zelfde became director of one of the worst schools in Rotterdam. A school with only 34 new student registrations, dramatic exam results, tired teachers and crime. Van ’t Zelfde tackled the problems off the beaten track. No less than 56 teachers left, 34 of whom in his first year as director. He introduced the ingenious rule of conduct ‘you behave yourself’, which is brilliant in its simplicity. He expelled a number of students against the law and had to answer to the judge. After several years, his school began to score at or above the national average. From the worst school in the Netherlands to one of the best schools in the Netherlands in five years.

EDDI Main Outputs

The EDDI Project has resulted in the development and production of 3 main outputs:

• The EDDI E-Platform
• The EDDI Catalogue
• The EDDI Android Application

The “Disfinlit” Multiplier Event took place on November 27th, 2023. The event programme had some excellent speakers and was hosted by Dutch speaker and director Pieter van Schie. 21 participants attended the multiplier event in Leiden at the University Leiden Campus. The Disfinlit project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Disfinlit Partnership

The partnership is composed by seven organizations from the European Union. The coordinator is Fundació privada institut d’ estudis financers (IEF) from Spain and the partners are: Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work (DFW2W) from the Netherlands, Effebi from Italy, CONACEE from Spain, ACEEU from Germany and Eurodimensions from Malta. The Disfinlit project aim is to respond to the needs of high-quality online tools and platforms by developing a tool that will help disabled youth to develop sustainable financial know-how, make smart and sustainable financial decisions, understand money management, deal with a constantly changing economy, navigate inevitable challenges and take charge of their own financial future.

Outline Disfinlit Programme

The Disfinlit ME Agenda was presented and hosted by director Pieter van Schie. He welcomed all participants and explained the objectives and agenda of the partnership:

• DFW2W presentation and DisFinLit project introduction: Sustainable Financial Literacy for youth disabled
• Disfinlit Consortium presentation: Institution, roles and responsibilities
• Presentation of Adapted curriculum and materials for disabled people from existing financial literacy courses paying special attention of sustainable finances  
• Presentation of Community of good practices to include all the existing training available and new materials
• Presentation of the Disfinlit platform

The content of the modules and the support materials were well appreciated: ,,I was positively surprised by this event and the results presented”. The multiplier event Disfinlit focus groups were also discussed. The aim of the Focus Groups was to:

• Discuss the state of the art of existing educational aims at different academic levels
• Determine which types of skills and competencies should be offered in the educationalmaterial
• Identify Learning Objectives (LOs)

This resulted in an ”Adapted curriculum and materials for disabled people from existing financial literacy courses paying special attention of sustainable finances” and a ”Community of good practices to include all the existing training available and new materials”

Monday 27 November the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work (DFW2W) organised the Final Dutch EMO2C multiplier event on the University Leiden Campus. During the event in Leiden the EMO2C partnership presented their results and intellectual outputs to the Dutch audience.

Dutch EMO2C Event in Leiden

The EMO2C-partnership organised their Dutch transnational project meeting in Leiden, Holland. The partnership is formed by partners from different EU-countries. INDEPCIE from Spain (coordinator), AKMI from Greece, Efektas Group from Lithuania, VAEV from Austria, Igor Vitale International from Italy and DFW2W from the Netherlands.

EMO2C Objectives

The objective of EMO2C is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups, so that their personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills.

Outline Dutch EMO2C Event

Thirty delegates, mostly network professionals from VET and Second Chance Schools, but also from the university, attended final multiplier event and they brought a lot of energy and chemistry in Leiden. All the participants were pretty engaged and involved on the importance of soft skills in an educational context. We received very positive feedback. Lots of young people were really happy about the results (such as the workshop EMO2C toolkit and the presentation of the EMO2C modules) and how to facilitate the tailored learning process for individuals . Pieter van Schie was the host of the day and introduced Carla de Vreij, chairwoman DFW2W. She outlined the role of DFW2W and the EMO2C programme:,,The EMO2C project had lead to stronger relationships with colleagues, our network professionals and our young people”

Pieter lead the workshop on the EMO2C toolkit and explained the advantages of social-emotional intelligence in Second Chance Schools. We received a lot of good positive feedback on the workshop, which was applied by blended-learning approach (a face to face presentation with activities that included reading, listening but also practise by doing). In this way it was much more easy to increase the engagement of the attendees. Pieter emphasized the specific goals of the project:

• To give visibility to the purpose and work of the EMO2C project for public and private entities;
• Addressing the importance of soft skills in the target group
• Concrete and effective solutions to the problems of early school leaving and youth unemployment
• Incorporating specific measures to ensure access for young people at risk or in a situation of social exclusion
• Enabling the development of the EMO2C model and its economic sustainability in the EU
• Obtaining European recognition of the EMO2C model as an essential element in the fight against early school leaving and youth unemployment
• To promote international cooperation in this field
• Enable young people with lack of skills or qualifications to successfully gain access to education programmes or to the labour market
• Strengthen the competences and qualifications of EMO2C educators
