Monday 27 November the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work (DFW2W) organised the Final Dutch EMO2C multiplier event on the University Leiden Campus. During the event in Leiden the EMO2C partnership presented their results and intellectual outputs to the Dutch audience.

Dutch EMO2C Event in Leiden

The EMO2C-partnership organised their Dutch transnational project meeting in Leiden, Holland. The partnership is formed by partners from different EU-countries. INDEPCIE from Spain (coordinator), AKMI from Greece, Efektas Group from Lithuania, VAEV from Austria, Igor Vitale International from Italy and DFW2W from the Netherlands.

EMO2C Objectives

The objective of EMO2C is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups, so that their personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills.

Outline Dutch EMO2C Event

Thirty delegates, mostly network professionals from VET and Second Chance Schools, but also from the university, attended final multiplier event and they brought a lot of energy and chemistry in Leiden. All the participants were pretty engaged and involved on the importance of soft skills in an educational context. We received very positive feedback. Lots of young people were really happy about the results (such as the workshop EMO2C toolkit and the presentation of the EMO2C modules) and how to facilitate the tailored learning process for individuals . Pieter van Schie was the host of the day and introduced Carla de Vreij, chairwoman DFW2W. She outlined the role of DFW2W and the EMO2C programme:,,The EMO2C project had lead to stronger relationships with colleagues, our network professionals and our young people”

Pieter lead the workshop on the EMO2C toolkit and explained the advantages of social-emotional intelligence in Second Chance Schools. We received a lot of good positive feedback on the workshop, which was applied by blended-learning approach (a face to face presentation with activities that included reading, listening but also practise by doing). In this way it was much more easy to increase the engagement of the attendees. Pieter emphasized the specific goals of the project:

• To give visibility to the purpose and work of the EMO2C project for public and private entities;
• Addressing the importance of soft skills in the target group
• Concrete and effective solutions to the problems of early school leaving and youth unemployment
• Incorporating specific measures to ensure access for young people at risk or in a situation of social exclusion
• Enabling the development of the EMO2C model and its economic sustainability in the EU
• Obtaining European recognition of the EMO2C model as an essential element in the fight against early school leaving and youth unemployment
• To promote international cooperation in this field
• Enable young people with lack of skills or qualifications to successfully gain access to education programmes or to the labour market
• Strengthen the competences and qualifications of EMO2C educators

The objective of EMO2C is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups, so that their personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills.

The vision of the EMO2C project is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups (young people and educators). This personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills. The sum of both will allow them to face their return to the labour market with more guarantees. The impact we seek is to provide comprehensive training to the target group, so that they increase their employability options and can reduce the alarming figures of youth unemployment in the EU. During the transnational meeting in Rome the EMO2C state of play was reviewed and upgraded: An update.

EMO2C Rome

On November 3rd – 4th 2022 the prtnership EMO2C came together in rome, Italy. During the 2nd transnationnal meeting in Rome the training system and modules were discussed. Other project topics were also covered, like: The dissemination plan, project visibility, follow Up (impact and sustainability) and reporting. In the evening a dissemination event was held.

Specific Goals EMO2C

• Develop concrete and effective solutions to the problems of early school leaving and youth unemployment;

• Enable the development of the E2C model and its economic sustainability in the EU;
• To obtain European recognition of the E2C model as an essential element in the fight against early school leaving and youth unemployment;
• To promote international cooperation in this field;
• Enable young people with lack of skills or qualifications to successfully gain access to education programmes or to the labour market;
• Strengthen the competences and qualifications of E2C educators

According to Eurostat, in October 2020 3.1 million young persons (under 25) were unemployed in the EU (a rate of 17.5%). These figures take on a dramatic tone in Mediterranean countries such as Spain, where the rate reaches 40.4%, or more than 30% in Greece or Italy, while Lithuania (27.1%) also suffer from this scourge above the EU average (17.5%). This is in any case a dangerous and particularly unacceptable figure for such an important population group. These numbers are even harsher among low-skilled young people, many of whom joined the labour market in the midst of the economic recession of the past decade and have suffered even more due to the negative effects of the Covid 19 pandemic. The European partnership EMO2C offcially kicked off face-to-face in Córdoba, Spain on May 30th-31st 2022.

EMO2C Vision

EMO2C must be approached from a transnational perspective, because it affects millions of young people across the EU, a luxury that our society cannot afford. Thus, the main objective of EMO2C is to strengthen emotional and social competences of the target group, so that this personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills. The sum of both will allow them to face their return to the labour market with more guarantees.

EMO2C Córdoba Kick Off Meeting

On May 30th we officially kicked of face-to-face in Córdoba. All EMO2C partners were attending. The partnership is formed by several entities from different countries. INDEPCIE from Spain (coordinator), AKMI from Greece, Efektas Group from Lithuania, VAEV from Austria, Igor Vitale International from Italy and the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work from the Netherlands. Each EMO2C partner served their organisation presentation with a personal touch.

On day 1 the partnership discussed about the identification and definition of the 12 essential social-emotional skills for teaching in E2C. The training system for educators has to be a very practical approach, but also with practical nuances on how to address these competences in the classroom. A survey is developed and already filled. These results will be finetuned and improved with EMO2C expert focus groups. Each partner presented their project tasks and objectives to achieve.

QAP

On day 2 we discussed all the phases of the project, such as the surveys which have to be done in the next phase of the project, the EMO2C tools, the launch of the website (July 2022) and the development of the EMO2C platform. DFW2W is in charge of the quality assurance. Although we are all very sure the quality of the EMO2C project will be very good, it’s important to have a good framework of internal and external evaluation process. Furthermore project activities and results will also be evaluated.

On 21st of February 2022, the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work participated in the first Online meeting of the EMO2C project. The vision and objective of this brand new project is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups, so that this personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills.

EU Youth Unemployment

Youth unemployment (people under 25) has an average rate of 17,5% in the whole of Europe. In the South Mediterranean countries it’s even worse, according Eurostat. The vision and objective of the EMO2C project is to strengthen the emotional and social competences of the target groups, so that this personal empowerment serves as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills. The target group in one hand are the youngsters looking for a job, and looking for an opportunity (not NEETs in this case) and the teachers and trainers who will help them to develop these skills.

EU Partnership: 7 Partners

The partnership is formed by several entities from different countries. INDEPCIE from Spain (coordinator), AKMI from Greece, Efektas Group from Lithuania, VAEV from Austria, Igor Vitale International from Italy and the Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work from the Netherlands. During the OnLine kick off Meeting on February 21st 2022, the first tasks and responsibilities have been set. The partner in charge of the first Project Result, AKMI explained the steps to start develop correctly the Training System, the PR at issue. Another interesting part of the project is the development of the Workshop regarding the importance of Emotional Intelligence nowadays, especially in the labour environment. During the OnLine meeting the partners discussed and pointed out the lack of importance given to this matter when we talk about the job sphere.
