The Youth WorkNet project is currently in its final stage. Last year, on the 18th and 19th of December 2018 we had a wonderful meeting in Vienna. It was an opportunity to report on the activities carried out and to finalize the last details useful for the conclusion of the project, with a signed Memorandum of Understanding as highlight of the meeting!

Youth WorkNet Catalogue

The meeting in Vienna was also the right the occasion to produce and finalise the Youthpasses for all the participants to the training activity held in Campobasso (IT) in June 2018. All the partners gave their feedback on the contents of the Catalogue of Best Practices, the core of the project, and gave the approval for publishing it on the project website.

Memorandum of Understanding

During the Vienna meeting the partners also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of a network among partners to spread the results of the project in all the countries involved and to go on promoting good practices in the field of job searching among young people. The MoU represents also a formalization of the partnership/friendship among the project partners in order to keep on collaborating also for other youth projects.

YOUTH-WORKNET aims at promoting the exchange of good practices in the field of networking-based activities for young unemployed people. By taking part in several EU and national projects, consortium partners have observed that traditional employment services tend to result ineffective in comparison with more innovative, informal and flexible solutions such as those based on networking and training support. Recently we were in Vienna to discuss the best practices in each country

The Youth-Worknet meeting in Vienna, Austria took place 17 and 18th December 2018. We discussed the YouthWorkNet website. One of the major achievements of the projects, as regards to dissemination was our air time on RAI3 in Italy.

In Wien (Vienna) the focus was on completing the YOUTH-WORKNET catalogue of at least 20 successful practices from 12 different countries, together with critical analysis of their features and operative description of transfer and implementation conditions. All key aspects and data will be collected in a final report to be presented. By the end of the project, at least one more network of interested institutions will be officially established with the purpose of a further exploitation of the project results and the development of new networking-based interventions for youth employment. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed. More about that in our next article, which will also include Newsletter 5. To read more about our previous Youth Worknet meetings, like the one in Sofia, Bulgaria, see below.

The next technical meeting will be held in the Randstad Region in the Netherlands from the 21st – 23rd of May 2018.

Two European Examples
INSIGNARE project: the focus of the project is how to improve the knowledge of job market by providing the final year students the necessary tools for an effective job searching through simulation of a real job interview with human resources expert and real job application (CV, VIDEO CV, COVER LETTER, E-PORTFOLIO).
APOPSI project: the project focus on training, counselling & certification for the employees threatened by unemployment, the employees and self – employed, mainly in the industrial sectors of the wider region of Piraeus and Thriasio… For more information read our Youth worknet newsletter_3.

Youth WorkNet Newsletter

A couple of weeks ago I was at the technical Youth WorkNet meeting in Campobasso, Italy. The Youth WorkNet partnership aims to promote the exchange of good practices in the field of networking-based activities for young unemployed people. By taking part in several EU and national projects, the consortium partners have observed that traditional employment services tend to result ineffective in comparison with more innovative, informal and flexible solutions such as those based on networking and training support. In particular, partners previously involved in two projects based on the Job Club methodology registered a much higher success rate in employment and personal activation (e.g. exiting the NEET condition) than that resulting from institutional support measure (see also www.jobclubsnetwork.eu ). In an article of Pieter van Schie the positive aspects (A self-educating platform, without trainers and case managers, without sanctions and pressure…) of this approach are highligjhted. The Youth Worknet proposes the exchange of a set of networking-based practices to be transferred and implemented in different contexts with similar needs. we have informed you previously in Youth worknet newsletter_1 PDF.

The 2nd newsletter gives an overview of the Technical meeting in Campobasso. It highlighted 2 projects in particular:

The CERTLAB PROJECT: The focus of the project was the design, the testing and the validation of an innovative methodology to recognize competences already acquired and to validate them through a certification process, in order to make them more visible and valuable for possible employers.

JOURNEY TO WORK: These projects are a good example of a wrap-around package of support which includes work experience, a good functioning network and quality coaching with a high success rate of 80% into jobs: A very nice testimonial of Jamie you can read on the project website of Werkcenter Scotland.

YOUTH WORKNET aims at promoting the exchange of good practices in the field of networking-based activities for young unemployed people. By taking part in several EU and national projects, consortium partners have observed that traditional employment services tend to result ineffective in comparison with more innovative, informal and flexible solutions such as those based on networking and training support. In particular, partners previously involved in two projects based on the Job Club methodology registered a much higher success rate in employment and personal activation (e.g. exiting the NEET condition) than that resulting from institutional support measure. That’s why YOUTH-WORKNET proposes the exchange of a set of networking-based practices to be transferred and implemented in different contexts with similar needs.

By actively involving about 240 young people in 8 different EU countries, YOUTH WORKNET will produce a catalogue of at least 20 successful practices from 12 different countries, together with critical analysis of their features and operative description of transfer and implementation conditions. After a focused training programme, 40 young people and youth workers will become able to manage and evaluate the exchange programme, as well as to promote the personal, social and career development of peers – therefore becoming expert youth workers. These new competences will be assessed and certified via EU transparency tool as YOUTHPASS and ECVET credits.

During the exchange phase, at least 8 practices will be exchanged, implemented and monitored. Their “migration” will be evaluated in all key aspects and data will be collected in a final report to be presented in the final project meeting. By the end of the project, at least one more network of interested institutions will be officially established with the purpose of a further exploitation of the project results and the development of new networking-based interventions for youth employment.
